ORANGE ECONOMY AND CULTURAL AND CREATIVE SECTORS (SCC) IN THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY: SITUATION, POTENTIALITIES AND THE DEFINITION OF PROPOSALS FOR ACTION TO PROMOTE THEM

Abstract

This report seeks to review the situation of the so-called ‘Taronja Economy’ in the
Valencian Community, so that we can make a diagnosis based on the evidence and that it brings us to
some proposals and recommendations from the perspective of the transformative will of the model
Valencian production. The concept of Taronja Economy, corresponds to the economic activities of
the cultural and creative sectors (SCC), which we will define in the first section from the corresponding
codes of the CNAE 2009. The revision begins with a conceptual and theoretical approximation sober
relations between cultural and creative sectors and economic dynamics in general, both from
macro perspective (among the evolution of aggregated variables such as productivity,
growth, per capita income and activity of the SCC) and from the micro perspective (the role of
cultural and creative sectors in the transformation of labor relations, the ability of
innovation of individuals in business organizations or transformation in corporate culture
). A description of the Valencian approximation is then made, compared to the
realities of the rest of Spain and Europe.

Next provides a description of the dynamics, sectoral and territorial of the
different sectors of the Orange Economy, from the elaboration of a microdata base, which we
allows variables to be identified and geolocated as companies, occupied and billing the activities of
the cultural and creative sectors, by different territorial units. Subsequently, a
analysis is carried out on territorial dynamics from municipal units and local systems of
work. The following section corresponds to the development of different estimation methodologies for
revealing the relations between SCC and local income, to arrive at the results of analysis of the
considerations derived from interaction with 27 experts in the sector. With all this diagnosis, a series of conclusions are drawn by
, to continue with a set of recommendations in key policies
public, with the aim of stimulating the so-called Orange Economy.
