Ecology of learning. Non-formal and informal learning processes in culture and communication.

Abstract

The article emphasizes the growing centrality of non-formal and informal training to acquire the necessary skills and skills in the socio-economic space of the 21st century, and in this context explores the role played by cultural and symbolic experiences in informal learning processes, to highlight the relevance of learning ecology as a complex system linking different education plans. Two very specific cases are then analysed as an illustration of these relations and complementarities of the formative plans. The first case is AMURE, where non-formal education is used to solve a problem of the formal education system, such as school drop-out. In the second case, MAGACIM tv is described as a non-formal education proposal, based on audiovisual production capabilities that activates an entire complex unforeseen informal learning process. Both cases serve to propose as a topic of debate that, if we want to understand the educational process, we must focus on learning ecologies and, if we want to increase the transformative effects of learning, then we must increase the amount and intensity of cultural and communicative experiences, and insert them into informal learning processes
